बरेली कॉलेज में पहली बार अखिल भारतीय विद्यार्थी परिषद से छात्र संघ के अध्यक्ष की हैसियत से हैट्रिक बनाने वाले सुरेश चंद्र शर्मा ने अपने शपथ ग्रहण समारोह में भारत की राजनीति के दिग्गजों को बरेली आमंत्रित किया और वो लोग आये भी। इंदिरा गाँधी भी हुई थर्थी शामिल।

सुरेश चंद्र शर्मा की राजनीतिक सोच और पकड़ को देखते हुए अटल बिहारी बाजपेयी, कल्याण सिंह, एन. डी. तिवारी, राम सिंह खन्ना ने इनको हाथों हाथ लिया। सुरेश शर्मा की असामयिक मृत्यु ने बरेली के एक उज्जवल परिदृश्य को समाप्त कर। दिया।

सुरेश चंद्र शर्मा के चचेरे भाई ने अपने जीवनदान के संकल्प के बाद भी भाई के परिवारको संभाला और भाई के नाम को बरेली के इतिहास और भविष्य में भी अमर कर दिया।

प्रेमप्रकाश शर्मा ने भाई ने नाम पर बरेली की सबसे पहली विकसित बी. डी.ए.. एप्रूव्ड कालोनी सुरेश शर्मा नगर के नाम से बनवायी। भाई का एक स्मारक बनवाया। भाई के नाम से स्कूल खोले, प्रिटिंग प्रेस लगवायी।

विद्यालय के संस्थापक स्व. प्रेम प्रकाश शर्मा का विद्यालय की स्थापना के समय यह उद्देश्य था कि देश के भावी कर्णधार आज के शिशु अपनी संस्कृति को पहचानते हुए, उसे अपनाते हुए, विश्व बन्धुत्व में अपनी आस्था रखते हुए, एक ऐसे राष्ट्र का निर्माण करने में सहायक हो जो अशिक्षा, बेरोजगारी व शारीरिक-मानसिक कष्टों का निवारण करने में सक्षम हों। हम भारत की गौरवशाली संतान को भारत के गौरव तथा मर्यादा के अनुसार बनाने का प्रयास कर रहें हैं। हमारी शिक्षा, दीक्षा, क्रियाकलाप, देश के सम्मान को बढ़ाने वाले हों हमारे सभी प्रकार के कार्यों का केंद्र बिन्दु यह पुण्य भूमि हो। हमें ऐसे बालकों का निर्माण करना है जिनके चेहरे पर आभा, शरीर में बल, मन मे प्रचण्ड इच्छा शक्ति, बुद्धि में पांडित्य, जीवन में स्वावलम्बन, हृदय में शिवा, प्रताप, ध्रुव, प्रहलाद की जीवन गाथायें अंकित हों और जिनको देखकर महापुरूषों की स्मृतियाँ झंकृत हो उठे। हम प्रतिवर्ष अनेक सुरेश बनायें। यह थी वह महत्वाकाँक्षा, जिसे मूर्त रूप देने के लिए इस विद्यापीठ की स्थापना की गयी थी।
